15,000 Women in Sindoor-Coloured Sarees to Welcome PM Modi in Bhopal on May 31

Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to receive a grand and symbolic welcome in Bhopal on May 31, where 15,000 women clad in Sindoor (vermillion)-coloured sarees will greet him as a mark of appreciation for Operation Sindoor — India’s decisive military action in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.

The Prime Minister will attend a women’s conference held in honor of the 300th birth anniversary of Lok Mata Ahilya Bai, the revered 18th-century queen of the Malwa region known for her governance and contributions to social welfare.

According to the BJP’s women’s wing, 15,000 women volunteers have been selected from across 1,300 mandals to participate in this ceremonial reception. Each volunteer will wear a vermillion-hued saree, which the party will provide.

“These sarees symbolize our salute to Prime Minister Modi and the Indian armed forces for their strong response to terrorism after the Pahalgam incident,” said Minister of State Krishna Gaur.

Notably, the entire security apparatus for the event — including helipad safety, traffic regulation, and crowd control — will be managed exclusively by female officers. IPS officer Sonali Mishra will head the all-women security team.

“A contingent of women police personnel will accompany the PM’s security detail. They will oversee traffic flow, maintain order at the stage, and handle crowd management. For the first time, 47 women officers will be in charge of VIP protection,” a senior police official stated.

BJP state president VD Sharma added, “Over 600 women from various Self-Help Groups will manage food and water arrangements. The Prime Minister’s visit for the Women Empowerment Conference will be coordinated entirely by Nari Shakti. From hospitality to honouring the PM, every aspect of the event is being led by women. This gathering is a tribute to women's empowerment and will mark a historic milestone.”
