Keerthy Suresh Dons Her Mother’s 30-Year-Old Wedding Saree for Her Special Day
Keerthy Suresh captivated everyone on her wedding day by wearing her mother’s 30-year-old wedding saree, beautifully restored by designer Anita Dongre. This heartfelt choice added a layer of tradition and sentimentality to her intimate ceremony in Goa.
The actress tied the knot with her longtime partner, Antony Thattil, on December 20 in a celebration that embraced love and heritage. Keerthy’s decision to wear her mother’s saree became a talking point, showcasing her deep connection to her roots and family traditions. The saree, which was reimagined by Anita Dongre, stood out as a symbol of timeless elegance.
In an interview with Galatta India, Keerthy opened up about the meaningful story behind her outfit. “It’s my mom’s wedding saree, and I decided to refurbish it. Anita Dongre did an amazing job,” she shared. Keerthy reminisced about seeing old photos of her mother wearing the saree, making her decision to don it even more poignant.
Interestingly, the saree wasn’t part of the original plan. “I was supposed to wear a saree from the groom’s side,” she revealed. “But when I came across this saree, I immediately asked my mom if I could wear it.”
The striking red saree, adorned with intricate silver floral designs and shimmering zari embroidery, was paired with a matching blouse and diamond jewelry. The combination reflected a seamless blend of traditional charm and modern sophistication. Keerthy’s choice highlighted the beauty of honoring family legacies while creating new memories on her special day.
